Hailing from the Washington, DC area, TheRuinCity is a pop-rock act with strong influences by bands such as Augustana, Mae, Copeland, and The Fray. Forming in 2010, TheRuinCity made quick work of putting together a debut, with their self-titled critically acclaimed first EP, which was released on iTunes in September, 2011.
Founding front-man Michael Daknis, additionally the bands pianist, is accompanied by David and Josh Hoppel on rhythm and lead guitar, Kyle O’Keefe on bass, and rounding out the five-piece ensemble on drums with Dillon Knighton. They have been sharing their vision of music serving a purpose greater than themselves by donating the proceeds of their first album to the non-profit organization called Love146, which helps to rehabilitate the victims of child trafficking. “What I Mean To You”, the band’s first single, was recently selected to play on all Delta Airlines flights, beginning Spring 2012. TheRuinCity shares a love for music which brings energy and passion to their performances, leading to multiple headlining shows which have sold-out throughout the DC Metropolitan area. Currently working on a sophomore follow up, planned for a 2012 release, TheRuinCity can be seen at a wide variety of DC and Northern Virginia venues. |
